Doors and windows are an important design feature in your home, but they can serve many more functions than what they were designed for. Flea market finds like antique doors or shuttered window frames can be great additions to a room, allowing you to tweak the space while blending in with your romantic home decor.
Open up a room. Mirrors are often an easy way to make a cozy space seem larger, but walls of glass can make your home start to feel like a house of mirrors. Replace the panels on old doors with mirror panes to create breathing room as well as a touch of vintage romance to a sitting room or nook. You can also place them adjacent to an actual window to add some brightness to a dark room.
Dress up a wall. If a wall in your home seems empty, add a window. Remove the glass panes from a vintage window frame and hang it on your wall. Embellish it with floral decor and lace to create a romantic art piece or attach vintage knobs to create hooks for keys, purses and even coats.
Create a new space. Instead of a solid dressing screen or partition, try dividing a room with antique French doors to form separate space without closing it off completely from the rest of the home. If you do require privacy, add some lace curtains just as you would a door. For an added twist, you can think outside your home and bring your door partition outside to cordon off a quaint dining area.
